Why we love it

Originally settled by Dutch immigrants, Roseland got its name from the residents’ tidy flower gardens. The neighborhood began to flourish into a diverse, cosmopolitan community with the development of the nearby Pullman Factory and was once considered one of the most important commercial areas outside the Loop.

Roseland is bordered by a plethora of outdoor spaces to explore. Just east of Roseland, Harborside International Golf Center features two scenic 18-hole golf courses with water views, along with a driving range, practice facility, and restaurant.

Also nearby, Big Marsh Park is a large natural area with a mountain bike park, paved bike paths, and walking trails. Once an industrial area, the park has been transformed into a thriving natural area that’s a prime spot for birding and picnicking.

One of the area’s most famous destinations is the Pullman National Historic Park. Located on the border of the Roseland neighborhood, Pullman is an 1880s-era planned industrial town that is now the city’s first National Monument.
