CLATA ANNOUNCES DESTINOS, 7TH CHICAGO INTERNATIONAL LATINO THEATER FESTIVAL, FEATURING MOST EXTENSIVE FESTIVAL LINE-UP IN ITS HISTORY, WITH WORKS FROM BRAZIL, CHILE, ARGENTINA, MEXICO, THE U.S. AND CHICAGO DEBUTING ALL OVER THE CITY, SEPTEMBER 30-NOVEMBER 17<\/p>\n
Highlights include a show about the role of mole sauce in Mexican culture, a Brazilian play about a female shaman, a Chilean all-ages adventure about saving trees, the return of Port of Entry at Albany Park Theatre, Chicago\u2019s Satya Chavez performing Brian Quijada\u2019s Where Did We Sit on the Bus?, The Magic Parlour headlined by a magician from Ecuador, and the world premieres of a father\/son dramedy set in Wrigley Field, a one-woman Mariachi musical, the true story of Humboldt Park church refugee Elvira Arellano, and a Latine drag comedy<\/p>\n
New festival partners include Center on Halsted, Albany Park Theater Project and the American Music Theatre Project at Northwestern University.<\/p>\n
The Chicago Latino Theater Alliance announced big plans today for the return of Destinos, the Chicago International Latino Theater Festival, a seven-week, citywide festival showcasing Latino theater artists and companies from Chicago, the U.S. and Latin America, September 30-November 17, 2024.<\/p>\n
Each fall, Destinos is the cultural apex of Chicago\u2019s Latino Heritage Month, showcasing Latino theater artists and companies from Chicago, the U.S. and Latin America. The festival is produced by the Chicago Latino Theater Alliance (CLATA), and presented annually to drive Chicago\u2019s vibrant Latino theater scene to a more prominent level locally, nationally and internationally.<\/p>\n
